what does the pope do anyway? Does he just sit there and look pretty? does he decide court cases? does he bless the holy water? what is his job? *sorry i am not catholic obviously but i was just wondering*

The pope is the head of the Catholic Church. The succession of popes can be traced all the way back to the first Pope, Peter. He is the spokesperson for the Church. His job is to educate the people, denounce error and immorality in the world, and to pray for the people. Does that answer your question?

Proudly Papist means we are a familiy that prays for the successor of Peter, knowing "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"... but "upon this Rock, I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it."

Okay...so the pope is pretty much the head pastor of the Catholic church who just prays for everyone. But why do you need a pope? Isn't it the body of the church that should pray? We shouldn't need one man to pray for us... It just reminds me of the pharisee's in the Bible...

kitkat04 *i am the same anonymous person but i thought i would give myself a name. :)*

Can you please tell me who you are? If I know you I would rather talk about this in person. And if I don't know you then I would rather not talk to you. The purpose of my blog is to share my thoughts with my friends and family, not outsiders. Thanks for understanding. :)
