Silence

A few moments of peace and quiet while the little ones are sleeping... Enjoying it while it lasts! Didn't get around to this in high school, but I'm completely engrossed.

Lovely

There's nothing quite like a good breakfast to start the day off right. I made a wonderful little herb and Brie cheese omelet paired with some earl grey tea. I've found a website that has old Anthony Bourdain episodes and by a great stroke of luck the first one was about Paris (and why the French don't suck). They really get it right by devoting at least an hour to this sacred act each day. Wholesome bread and perfectly pressed coffee. Simply taking a moment to pause and be still before jumping into the day. I'm working on that this week.

Jowler Creek

We had a great visit home last weekend. It was so nice to be with my dad on Father's Day and spend some special time with Reid for his birthday. We fit in a quick visit with my good friend Shawna who is moving to Washington, D.C. this month and hit up a small winery for a special date. Over all it was a great vacation for both of us!

Zen and eggs

By some small miracle I talked Spencer into joining me for morning yoga today. Turns out he had a great time! We're currently looking for one that meets in the evenings ;)
After that we had a lovely morning double date with our friends Erin and Sam. Started with brunch at Soulard Coffee Garden and then found some great deals at the farmers market. Happy Saturday!

Truth...

Date night

We had a lovely time staying in and watching the fourth Harry Potter movie. I looked up a recipe for butter beer and it was a huge success! Check it out here. Not at all diet friendly, but certainly tasty!

Wedding #2

An outdoor wedding at the bride's family's house for 300 guests. The biggest task was transporting all the chairs from the ceremony to the tent in 30 minutes and 90 degree weather!

Inside the tent was simply beautiful. Very classic and chic.

My favorite feature was these giant lanterns the bride had covered with fabric to match the table runners!

We had to cover the tent with a blue tarp during the day to keep it cool for the evening ceremony. Despite the warm weather, the wedding was truly beautiful. We certainly could not have done it all without my mother who happened to be visiting that weekend :)

Happy Friday!

I was lucky enough to get the day off of work! Spent it with these lovely ladies finding steals and deals like $1 iced coffee at Starbucks and 50% off Vera Bradley! Topped it all off with sushi dinner at The Drunken Fish in the central west end!

Yoga in the park

What a beautiful morning for yoga in the park! Over 150 people were there! The breeze felt nice, but the push-ups in funky positions were not so fun. Either way I'm feeling great! :)

Rack + Clutch

How cute is this little Eco-friendly boutique van I spotted downtown this morning!

Mom's Visit

We enjoyed a wonderful girls weekend while the boys were off at a hockey tryout. Cooked good food, went shopping, and helped get me settled into my home for the summer! Mom had the best find with this Ann Taylor dress at a consignment store!

Wedding #1

I'm thrilled to be interning for Katie Saeger this summer with Simply and Forever!
Here are a few pictures from the first wedding of the summer. The couple met at a library, so they focused their theme around books. Turned out very cute!

Church and beautiful bridesmaid's flowers!

Programs with book bindings!

 (sorry it's a bit blurry)

Reception location: St. Louis City Museum

 Escort cards

Memory table

The couple picked their favorite books to be placed on the cake topper!

Let's Go Blues!

We had a great time meeting up with my family for a Blues Game before all the summer craziness!

Slowly but surely...

...I'm reading the Harry Potter books. I know I missed the bandwagon in high school, but I was a bit busy reading the classics. Now that I need some light reading I've picked these up and I'm actually rather enjoying them! They are easy to pick up and sit down when the children need me throughout the day without getting lost. I just started book #5 last night, and I found this inscribed in the cover. Warmed my heart!

Date Party

Date Party was jungle themed this year, so I talked Spencer into going as a tree and a koala bear. Everyone loved our costume and we had a great time!

What's So Great About Gatsby Anyway?

"Indeed, what is?  Is it his enormous wealth, making him the epitome of early 20th century New Money, becoming the rival and envy of the entrenched Old Money almost over night?  Is it the lavish parties he holds regularly every night?  How about the mystery about who he is, and the many tales that revolve around him?  The immense love he has for Daisy Buchanan? Or is it his vision, his imagination, put to work to win Daisy, the workings of a great soul?"

You can read the rest of the post written by my friend Collin here.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, perhaps even more than I thought I would. Spencer and I snuck over to the little theater close by after work last week. It was nice to have a reason to get dressed up after a long day at work. Of course I had reasonable expectations after reading all the scathing reviews done by Rotten Tomotoes and IMDB, but in the end I think our culture was expecting something different. They wanted a love story with a party scene, not a tragic ending. I cried and Spencer rolled his eyes.  While it's not everyone's cup of tea, I heartily recommend it.
